Lahey Hospital, Joseph C. Corkery, MD, Emergency Department

Emergency room and medical center project completed on time and on budget.

Colliers Project Leaders was retained to provide project management services to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center located in Burlington, Massachusetts for construction of the Joseph C. Corkery, MD, Emergency Department. The project consists of a new 90,000 SF structure being constructed below two floors of occupied patient rooms on the side of a hill. Nicknamed the “stilts” project by the team, the new facility includes a new 41,000 square foot emergency department and a core and shell space for a future cancer center placed around the column structure of the existing hospital above it.

The project began in the Spring of 2015 and was completed in October 2016, on time and on budget. With the completion of this Project, Lahey now has a new Emergency Center that features:

• 26 private exam/treatment and observation rooms
• 2 additional trauma bays with passageways between all 4 rooms for more efficient treatment
• A triage/fast-track area
• 3 private behavioral health exam rooms
• Enhanced infection and contamination/prevention area
