Project manager and commissioning services for a new fire substation

Colliers Project Leaders is providing owner’s project management and commissioning services for the Town of Hadley’s New Fire Substation, scheduled for completion in July 2020.

The single-story, energy-efficient building will feature 5,300 square feet of usable space and a mezzanine level for mechanical systems. The building will be architecturally harmonious with existing municipal and other proposed nearby buildings. The functional spaces will include a meeting room, kitchen / break room, dispatch room, office, two bunk rooms, apparatus bay, and appropriate bathrooms.

The building will replace the 1950s two-bay garage at the North Hadley Village Hall that has been used by firefighters for vehicles, emergency communications, and equipment.

In the role of owner’s project manager, Colliers is providing comprehensive project management services including:

  • Development of the total project budget and schedule
  • Management of the architect selection process, including negotiating terms
  • Performing quality control measures during construction, including but not limited to, on-site representation, conduct weekly construction meeting, field report issuing, review of pay applications, change orders, facilitate construction issue resolution, conduct monthly Building Committee and Finance Subcommittee meetings, etc.
  • Managing the furniture, fixture, equipment and technology procurement, and installation process
  • Managing the construction closeout process, including but not limited to, punchlist management, closeout document management, move management, etc.

Colliers has also been engaged to provide commissioning services during the design and construction phases of the project. During the design phase, Colliers will review the construction documents, create commissioning specifications, and develop a commissioning plan. During the construction phase, Colliers will develop, distribute and spot verify construction checklists, develop functional test procedures, oversee and document functional systems testing, and develop a final commissioning report.
