The changing patterns of consumers.

According to Canada Post’s 2019 E-Commerce Benchmark report , 80% of Canadians are shopping online. While all shoppers do not fit into one category, certain demographics and lifestyles show a greater tendency to purchase online.

To address the changing pattern of consumers, Canada Post is constructing a new 700,000 sq. ft. mail processing plant that includes mail processing areas, a cafeteria, locker and change rooms, and administrative office space. The shipping and receiving areas are home to approximately 80 high-dock loading bays and two at-grade bays, in addition to 32 loading bays at the parcel hub.

Development of the site included extensive paved truck circulation, docking, heavy vehicle parking areas, and a parking lot for up to 725 private vehicles.

Our team supported the project, from Owner’s Statement of Requirements development, design-build procurement, design development and compliance, construction monitoring, through to substantial performance and occupancy of the new processing plant.
