The Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (MA DCAMM) engaged Colliers Project Leaders to serve as commissioning agent during the construction of a New 60,176 square foot, $40.4 Million Design and Media Center at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
The building’s highlights include: a grand three-story atrium that is the new welcoming entrance to the college; connection among the tower, south, east, and north buildings, providing easier access to and movement throughout campus buildings; a 130-seat lecture hall with a 4K digital projection and sound system; fully-equipped sound studio; modern, fully appointed wood shop; additional gallery space; professional film lighting studio; two high-tech black box studios; product development laboratory; and project rooms that are multipurpose and can be booked flexibly for meetings, projects, or installations on a temporary basis.
We provided integrated commissioning services in accordance with LEED EA Prerequisite 1, Fundamental commissioning and EA Credit 3, Enhanced commissioning from the schematic design through the warranty phase. In the role of commissioning agent, we coordinated the functions of system documentation, equipment start-up, control system calibrations, testing and balancing, performance testing, and training. We also verified that all commissioning procedures were completed in accordance with LEED Silver Certification.
