Telesat Canada Office Relocation

A new home at 160 Elgin St.

Telesat Canada, a leading global satellite operator, hired Colliers Project Leaders to manage the relocation of their Ottawa headquarters from their longstanding home at 1601 Telesat Court to 160 Elgin Street. This project has consolidated the real estate footprint and reduced their total occupied space from 105,000 sq. ft. to 58,000 sq. ft. Telesat specifically chose a downtown location and open-concept design with to encourage a collaborative corporate culture, present a fresh, modern aesthetic, and attract and retain its workforce.

Colliers Project Leaders provided day-to-day project management services, including oversight of schedule, budget, communications, and risk. We also led coordination of the design team, managed construction, and organized all move and project close-out efforts. Our team provided consistent support for the multi-phase move, including fit-up of two floors as well as furniture, fixture, and equipment services.

This project included the construction of multiple conference rooms and collaboration spaces, a lounge and reception with views of downtown Ottawa and Gatineau, and state-of-the-art Data Centre and AV infrastructure. Telesat was able to move their staff into the new headquarters prior to the decommissioning of the existing office, due to the timely completion of this project.
